Moon Earth’s only natural satellite, It has been seen by dinosaurs and early human beings definitely they will be curious about this round boject (moon) hovering in the sky, But finally after thousands of years we are now capable of understanding the mystries of the moon.

Actual moon missions are started during cold war by Soviets and americans, It all started by soviet luna program in 1959. Now India is also on a same kind of moon exploration mission, India is a 4th county after Russia,America and China which has a properly functional lunar program. There are many countries which are active to understand the moon but still there are so much areas were still not discovered. To discover such possiblities India als launched is moon mission Chandrayaan 1 in october 2008 which discovered water molecules in moon’s soil.


chandrayaan 1 As scientists discovered water on the moon’s soil and moon’s north and south poles extremly cold areas such as our earth. There is also a probability of frozen water in the south poll of the moon no country has ever discovered the south pole of moon, By discovering such places we can understand the origin story of the moon and Chandrayaan 2 is all about discovering the hidden places of the moon.

GSLV MK 3 is India’s most powerful launcher till date and a completly indigenous technology will launch between 9 july to 16 july 2019, Carrying 2379 KGs of payload from sriharikota launch pad. It will detach the Chandrayaan 2 into space and the orbiter will orbit the earth and eventually reach to the moon with the help of trajectory technique. This technique is also used in ISRO’S mangalyaan mission .

The Orbiter will observe the lunar surface and form a communication link between Earth and Chandrayaan 2’s Lander Vikram.

Lander Vikram name is given in the name of  Dr. Vikram A Sarabhai, the father of the Indian space programme. Its weight is 1471 kgs and has power generation capability of 650w lander is designed to execute India’s first soft landing on moon’s surface.

Pragyan Rover

Pragyan is a robotic rover it has 6 wheels and its weight is 27 kg and has electric power generation capability of 50 w. It can travel upto 500 m and depends on sloar energy for functioning, it can only communicate with the lander. Rover will work for 14 days on the moon’s surface. Pragyan translates into wisdom in sanskrit.

Till now 3 countries have had rovers on the moon Russia, USA and China.

There is definitely a space race in asia between Japan, India, China but at the end this race will definitely help in growth of human evolution.
